DOWNTOWN RESTORATION

The restoration of the nineteenth-century industrial buildings in the downtown area is underway.  The developers restored other buildings along the city’s main thoroughfares. Also converted into luxury condominiums were two 19th-century buildings on Bridge Street. As part of a streetscape improvement project, several downtown streets underwent reconstruction with bricks and cobblestones and trees planted. The developers further enhanced Shelton’s business district appearance by rerouting some of the power lines underground.

 

RECREATION

Shelton offers over 15 miles of hiking trails and opportunities for fishing, boating, hiking, walking, and biking. There are two private golf courses in town.
